Committees

Academic Policy Committee
1)Monitor academic procedures, policies, and special initiatives, such as short courses, of the LBJ School.
2)Solicit opinions from LBJ students regarding LBJ courses.
3)Facilitate a process in which students provide feedback to faculty.
4)Report to GPAC on committee activities and concerns
5)There will one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Admissions Committee
1)Review applications of potential LBJ candidates.
2)Encourage diversity of entering classes
3)Help select entering class.
4)Report to GPAC on committee activities and issues.
5)There will be two Representatives from the second-year class.

Alumni and Placement Committee
1)Foster a working relationship between LBJ student body and LBJ Alumni Association.
2)Promote student interests in internship placement by serving on the internship committee.
3)Assist internship committee in selection of Fellowship awards.
4)Assist social committee in coordinating student and alumni gatherings.
5)Organize the production and sale of LBJ business cards.
6)Report to GPAC on committee activities and concerns.
7)There will be one Representative from first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Brown Bag Committee
1)Organize and facilitate informal Brown Bag series.
2)Work with LBJ School Administration to organize and hold formal lectures sponsored by the LBJ School.
3)There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Commencement Committee
1)Work with OSAP and the Dean's office in carrying out activities of LBJ commencement ceremony.
2)Coordinate selection of class speaker.
3)Seek input from graduating class on commencement activities.
4)Coordinate selection and purchase of class gift.
5)Report to GPAC on committee activities and issues.
6)There will be three members from the second-year class.

Communications Committee
1) Mission statement: To further the recognition of the LBJ community by advancing student achievements, initiatives, and events.
2)Work with student groups and individuals to coordinate events, increase public turnout, and secure media coverage
3)Work to improve communication and dissemination of information at the LBJ School
4)Work to increase the publicity of events and connect LBJ with the greater UT campus, Austin, the state of Texas, and the Nation as a whole
5)Serve as a liaison between students and the LBJ Office of Communications
6) Report to GPAC on committee activities and issues.

Community Service Committee
1)Provide for the members of the LBJ community, at regular intervals, the opportunity to participate in volunteer activities, including two Community Service Days.
2)Provide, on an ongoing basis, an information and referral system for volunteer opportunities outside of the Community Service Days.
3)Promote and stimulate the spirit of volunteerism.

Diversity Committee

Dual Degree Committee
1)Solicit concerns from and provide voice for students participating in dual degree programs.
2)Coordinate events to foster a sense of community among joint degree students.
3)There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Environment & Facilities Committee
1)Serve as advocate and seek funds for improvements to physical resources, e.g., computers, library, kitchen, hallway, lounge.
2)Promote and lead the recycling program at the LBJ School.
3)Represent students on the Dean's Committee on Funds for Special Events.
4)There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Faculty Recruitment Committee
1)Work with LBJ students, faculty and administration in selection of new LBJ School faculty.
2)Report to GPAC on committee activities and concerns.
3)There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Follies Committee
1)Coordinate and recruit participation for the LBJ Follies.
2)Manage financial matters concerning production of the LBJ Follies.
3)Coordinate social activities surrounding LBJ Follies.
4)Report to GPAC on committee activities and issues.
5)There will be two Representatives from the second-year class.

International Student Committee
1)Represent the international students needs and concerns to GPAC.
2)Coordinate events to celebrate and educate students about international events and cultures.

Orientation Committee
1)Work with OSAP in preparation and implementation of incoming class orientation week.
2)Recruit participation of returning LBJ students in orientation activities, including coordination of second-year mentors.
3)Report to GPAC on committee activities and issues.
4)There will be two representatives from the second-year class.

Part-time Committee
1)Solicit concerns from and provide voice for part-time students.
2)There will be two Representatives for part-time students.

Ph.D. Committee
1)Solicit concerns from and provide voice for students participating in the Ph.D. program.
2)There will be one Representative from the Ph.D. program.

Social Committee
1)Coordinate LBJ social activities, including but not limited to school-wide happy hours, student/alumni events, parties, and picnics.
2)There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the second-year class.

Student Recruitment Committee
1)Coordinate recruitment with OSAP and the Admissions Committee.
2)Write letter representing the Recruitment Committee for pre- and post-admissions packet.
3) Recruit LBJ student hosts and volunteers for phone banking and other relevant activities.
4)Work to attain a highly qualified and diverse application pool.

Technology Committee
1) Maintain, improve, and promote LBJ Livewire, the student-run community website for the LBJ School.

2) Coordinate with the Executive Committee to ensure that the GPAC and Student Organization websites remain updated and have sufficient backup and data security procedures.
3) Work with the administration to improve technology infrastructure at the LBJ School, such as computer labs, wireless access, power outlets, and the LBJ website.
4) There will be one Representative from the first-year class and one Representative from the senior class.
5) Report to GPAC, appropriate LBJ staff, faculty or administration member about areas where improvement can be made regarding committee activities and issues.
