View LBJer: Introduction

Welcome From Robert Young and Megan Alonzo, Orientation Co-Chairs

Howdy Y’all!  Welcome, from your Orientation Co-Chairs!

The LBJer is intended to provide information for those new to Austin, and to introduce entering classmates to student life at the LBJ School.  As students who know our way around LBJ, we’re excited to share what we’ve learned about the school’s academic and social life.  Please ask questions and come out for some of the social events this summer at Camp LBJ and during Orientation Week.  Once classes begin, it will become more difficult to find time for socializing.

As a school of public affairs, much of the education happens outside of the classroom, and student organizations are an excellent stage for students to practice skills acquired in the classroom.  Everyone is encouraged to jump right in to existing organizations, start new ones, and carry out their own initiatives.  Also, knowing a little about who can help you will give you a head start, so acquaint yourself with LBJ’s student services in the OSAP office.

Thanks for reading, and good luck with your transition into the LBJ School of Public Affairs.  It’s a great place.

Your Orientation Co-Chairs,

Robert Young & Megan Alonzo
