Anonymous Course Evaluations

Hey LBJ:

I realize that it is a little early to begin posting course evaluations, but since registration for the Spring semester is at the end of the month, you may want to check out the previous section reviews to help guide your decisions.

If you would like to submit evaluations, just follow any of the links below. All will direct you to identical anonymous surveys, the responses of which are likewise anonymously collected and reposted to Livewire for the benefit of all.

On a related note, Beth Casey is collecting as many past syllabi as possible so students can better evaluate classes. If you would like to offer old syllabi, please contact her.

Quick Forum Update

I moved a few of the fora around, since some are more relevant than others now. Everything is still there, just tweaked position-wise.

Remember that if you have any suggestions on how to make Livewire (or other processes) better, you have plenty of channels to get your thoughts heard:

1. Talk to any GPAC representative;
2. Email: webmaster at lbjlivewire.com;
3. Post in the GPAC Forum: Commons;
4. Post in the Livewire Discussion Forum: Suggestion Box;

AND:

5. The brand new ombudsperson email address! lbjcomments at gmail.com is the address for idea/suggestion/complaint submission that is 100% strictly confidential.

Jump in. The water’s fine.

Friends:

We figured out the problem with the site. Someone in the Beijing internet hacker community managed to install a little phishing bug into the site. It’s since been cleaned out, so everything should be good to go.

To be on the safe side, Webmaster Brian and I recommend changing your password for the site. It’s easy to do:

~ Go to http://www.lbjlivewire.com
~ Log in
~ Click “Forums” on the left-hand menu
~ Go to the bottom of the Forums page
~ Click “Your Control Panel”
~ Click “Username and Password” on the left-hand menu
~ In the form that follows:
—Enter a new password in both “Password Change Form” boxes
—Enter your current password in the “Your Existing Password” box
—Click the “Update” button at the bottom

LBJ Livewire may prompt you to log in again.  Do so if prompted.

Thanks for the understanding and cooperation.

Hey all:

If you can read this, then at least you can access the site. As of yesterday afternoon, Livewire started acting rather oddly to many users. Not the same problem every time, but widespread enough to suggest that there’s a glitch. I’ve got some people working on it, and will update you ASAP.

Hello all incoming and returning students!

The next four days will be quite busy for the incoming class. Orientation begins today with tailored sessions for international students.

Check the Event Calendar for a full listing of sessions during Orientation. A little warning- there’s a glitch in the date/time-stamping on the Calendar, so events are showing up as “all day” and the times are flipping around. However, the date is correct, so click on a day, scroll to a given event, and the correct time will be listed in the event posting itself.

Peruse the Forum as well, there are some sweet textbook deals going on, and people are organizing social activities as well.

Questions/comments- just send an email to the webmaster.

Anonymous Course Evaluations - LBJ Livewire

Anonymous Course Evaluations

Hi Current LBJers and recent alums!

Another of GPAC’s endeavors this summer has been to reinstitute the practice of anonymous LBJ course evaluations, separate from UT’s numerically-based ones we all fill out at the end of each semester.  We’ve saved all previous anonymous course evaluations that were hosted on the old LBJ Livewire website, and we’re looking for your help in updating the system by providing your thoughts on the classes you’ve taken in the last 2-4 semesters.

While the 2nd-year panels held during Orientation Week are invaluable, we felt that having a ongoing database of student course evaluations can help students pick classes when students miss the fall panels, during the spring semester, or when circumstances keep students from mingling and hearing about classes word-of-mouth (i.e., part-time students, students who work and/or have families).

Did we mention they’re anonymous?
The links don’t store names or email addresses with your responses, so your anonymity is assured.  The only person handling the survey responses will be me—someone’s got to move the content from SurveyMonkey to the message boards—and all responses will be posted to the just-relaunched LBJ Livewire’s forums under a single user account.

How to respond
To that end, you’ll find 24 SurveyMonkey links below, all of which lead to identical and anonymous surveys.  Each respondent can answer each survey link only once, so if you want to post an evaluation for more than one class, you’ll have to click on a different link for each.

If you receive a message that the survey is full, feel free to use one of the other links.  (They can handle up to 100 responses each, for a total of 2,400 responses.)  If by some chance you find all of the survey links are full, shoot me an email and I’ll create more survey links and send them out to the listserve.

Please keep your evaluations as constructive as possible, and make sure you include the information on when you took the class so they can be filed appropriately.

Thanks for your participation!  Your opinions will help the incoming class (and future classes) as they start the program!
